CONSUMER PROTECTION.

As a consumer, the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA) protects you from unfair business practices and prohibits vendors and salesmen from using false statements, duress, exaggerations, or misleading advertisements to get your business.

Under the DTPA, you may have a right to compensation if a vendor or salesman obtained your business by:

  • causing confusion or misunderstanding as to affiliation, connection, or association with, or certification by, another;

  • representing that goods or services have characteristics, ingredients, uses, benefits, or quantities that they do not have;

  • disparaging goods, services, or business of another by false or misleading representation of facts;

  • advertising goods or services with intent not to supply a reasonable expectable public demand, unless the advertisements disclose limitation of quantity;

  • making false or misleading statements of fact concerning reasons for, existence of, or amount of price reductions; or

  • failing to disclose information to induce the consumer into a transaction the consumer would not have entered into had the information been disclosed.

These are only a few of the violations that the DTPA covers.  As a consumer, if you have suffered harm as a result of an unfair, dishonest, or misleading act by a business, you are likely covered under the DTPA and if so, are entitled to compensation.

Criminal Law

Criminal Defense

Good people can end up in bad situations that lead to life-long consequences.  A competent attorney can tell your side of the story and defend you pursuant to the rights afforded to you by the Constitution of United States.

If you have been charged with a crime, it is prudent to obtain competent legal representation as soon as possible. The government has already begun to build its case against you and the more time your attorney has to investigate your case, the better your chance of getting your charges lessened or having your case dismissed.

Expunging or Sealing YOUR RECORDS

With the advent of the internet, searching for an individual's criminal record is a frighteningly easy process that many employers, banks, and screening services regularly utilize.

The presence of an arrest, charge, or conviction on your record may make obtaining employment, benefits, loans, or professional licenses difficult or even impossible.

Despite the fact that many arrests never turn into convictions, and many convictions are later overturned, individuals with these types of criminal records live must deal with the burden of having a criminal record attached to their name.

Luckily, the law allows certain individuals who qualify, the ability to either seal their records, so that potential employers, landlords, lending institutions, or other interested parties either no longer have access to those records.

If you qualify for an expunction, sometimes referred to as expungement, the law allows you to clear your record and act as if the arrest never occurred.
